Where to stay for the Cleveland Auto Show with a few friends

Downtown Cleveland skyline seen from a rooftop patio on a cold, grey late-winter afternoon

The short answer first: for four to six people with a budget near $150 a night, split the cost of one of our Cleveland houses rather than booking two hotel rooms. A home that sleeps 11 divided five ways usually lands lower per person than two rooms anywhere near the I-X Center, and you get a kitchen, a washer and dryer, and somewhere to sit and argue about what you just saw on the show floor.

Nightly rates here move with the calendar, and the Auto Show runs into Cleveland's busiest late-winter week, so I won't pretend to quote you a figure months out. What I can tell you is how these homes differ, which one suits which kind of group, and how to get a real number for your dates in about ten minutes.

The math that changes everything for a group of five or six

Most people searching for an Auto Show stay are thinking in hotel-room units: two rooms, two keys, two bathrooms, breakfast in a lobby. Think in houses instead and the arithmetic flips.

Miracle 1944 is a four-bedroom house near Gordon Square that sleeps 11 across five beds, with three bathrooms and free parking behind the house. Six of you in a four-bedroom house means nobody is sharing a bed they didn't volunteer for, and the whole-house rate divided six ways is a different conversation entirely from a per-room rate. It's also one of the few Cleveland homes we list as wheelchair accessible, which matters if someone in the group is weighing a long day on a convention floor.

The same logic applies at Miracle Large, the farmhouse-style house on 54th we call the Spa Retreat. Four bedrooms, seven beds, a bonus lounge with an air hockey table, and a dining table for eight. The shared amenities across those nearby homes include a hot tub, a barrel sauna, a pickleball court, cornhole and a fire pit, which in late February and early March means the hot tub and the sauna earn their keep and the pickleball court sits there looking optimistic.

Downtown loft or west-side house: pick by how your evenings go

This is the real choice, and it comes down to whether you want to walk to dinner or drive to it.

Lofts 600 is a two-bedroom penthouse loft on East 4th with two king beds, a sleeper sofa in the living room, and room for six. House of Blues is about seventy feet from the door, roughly a minute's walk, and Jolene's Honky Tonk is steps away. There's a private rooftop patio with skyline views and cornhole boards, and a gas fireplace downstairs for the nights when the rooftop is not happening. One thing to plan around: East 4th is a pedestrian street, so you can't pull up out front. If you're driving in, you'll park nearby and walk the last stretch with your bags.

If your group is six and you want to spend the evening inside a bar district rather than inside a living room, that loft is the one I'd book. If your group is five adults who intend to cook, spread out, and have a car anyway (and for the Auto Show you almost certainly will), a west-side house wins on space per dollar.

Gordon Square is the neighborhood I'd steer most first-time visitors toward. It's walkable, there are theaters and coffee shops on Detroit, and Edgewater Park and the Lake Erie beach are a short walk from some of our homes there. W 61st Combined sits in the middle of it: a duplex with two separate units, four bathrooms, a fire pit in the garden, and space for up to 19. That's more house than six people need, and I'd say so plainly. But it's the one to ask about if your "small group" quietly grows to ten or twelve once word gets out, and it's the only Cleveland home on this page that takes a dog (up to 30 lbs, with a pet fee).

A quick way to compare the four

  • Lofts 600 — downtown apartment, 2 bedrooms, sleeps 6, 2.5 baths. Rooftop patio with skyline views, elevator, in-unit washer and dryer, dedicated workspace in the primary bedroom. No parking at the door.
  • Miracle 1944 — Gordon Square house, 4 bedrooms, sleeps 11, 3 baths. Free parking, two washer/dryer sets, hot tub and sauna among the shared amenities, wheelchair accessible.
  • Miracle Large — west-side house, 4 bedrooms, sleeps 11, 2.5 baths. Free parking for two cars plus street parking, air hockey lounge, shared hot tub and barrel sauna.
  • W 61st Combined — Gordon Square duplex, 5 bedrooms, sleeps 19, 4 baths. Two full kitchens, large driveway, fire pit, pet-friendly up to 30 lbs.

Every one of these has a fully equipped kitchen, coffee on the counter, fast Wi-Fi, Smart TVs and smart-lock check-in with a code sent before you arrive. You never meet a front desk, which is a small mercy when you're rolling in at ten at night in March weather.

The show itself, and the bit everyone gets wrong

The Cleveland Auto Show runs at the I-X Center on I-X Center Drive, out by the airport, and the 2026 edition opens on February 20 and runs through March 1. Opening night is an evening session; Fridays and Saturdays run late, Sundays close earliest. Worth knowing: this is the last time the show will be held at the I-X Center.

Because the calendar straddles the end of February and the start of March, "March dates" and "Auto Show dates" are not the same thing. The last weekend of the run falls in March, the first does not. Check the official schedule before you lock in nights, because a Saturday inside the run and a Saturday after it are two different cities.

Plan on driving to the I-X Center. Every home on this page is a city home, not an airport home, and the group that has the best weekend is the one that treats the show as the daytime anchor and the neighborhood as the evening. Which is the right way round: you'll be on your feet for hours under convention lighting, and you'll want somewhere with a kitchen and a sofa at the end of it, not a lobby.

The West Side Market interior in Cleveland's Ohio City with produce and butcher stalls under the arched ceiling

What to do with the hours you're not looking at cars

Go to the West Side Market. It's the thing out-of-town visitors thank us for most, and it's an easy few minutes from the west-side homes and a short drive from downtown. Build your group breakfast there, bring it back, cook it in the house. That one habit is usually what makes the whole-house booking pay for itself.

Beyond that: the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Greater Cleveland Aquarium are both close to downtown, Edgewater Park gives you Lake Erie in its late-winter mood (grey, enormous, surprisingly good for a walk), and the dining runs from the Ohio City breweries along West 25th to Tremont and the Gordon Square theaters. Mabel's BBQ is downtown if the group wants one big dinner out.

Getting a real number for your dates

Rates shift with demand, so the only price that means anything is the one attached to your actual nights. Here's how to get it quickly:

  • Pick your nights off the official show schedule first, then price the homes against those exact dates.
  • Divide the all-in total by your head count, not by the room count. That's the number to compare against hotels.
  • Book direct with us. There are no platform booking fees on a direct reservation, and the direct rate is the best rate we offer.
  • If the number comes in above where you want it, message us. Shifting a night, or moving from the loft to a house, often moves the total more than you'd expect.

One practical note on group size: our Cleveland homes carry a minimum age requirement of 25, and every booking goes through a check-in form, ID verification and a rental agreement. These are residential neighborhoods with quiet hours, and they're not event venues. Groups who read that and nod are exactly who these houses were renovated for.

Talk to us before you book

We've spent more than ten years renovating and hosting homes in this city, and the useful part of that isn't the finishes, it's knowing which house suits which group. Tell us how many of you are coming, which nights you're after, and whether you want to walk to dinner or park in a driveway, and we'll point you at the right one. You get a direct line to a host who is actually in Cleveland, a welcome gift when you arrive, and someone to text when the garbage day question comes up.

Source One Stays hosts direct-book homes in Cleveland, plus Naples, Marco Island, Ellicottville and Nashville. Smart-lock check-in, no platform booking fees, and a host who answers.
